not that satisfied.. =(
i went to the recital meeting last saturday afternoon @ CPMP. Only coach myk was there, all coaches were in SM were in SM north daw, preparing for a concert. i was supposed to have my session pa naman, kaya lang i thought twice and went to SM instead. about the recital though, its on the 20th, afternoon, supposed to be at Trader's Hotel. I saw some people I've had lessons with as well. Caroline (she sang Get Here, during the first time I was able to belt out the whole of Ikaw, and got hoarse afterwards). There were others whose names I don't know, the pretty girl who was with Vicky and I during our lessons (Looking Through The Eyes Of Love), the girl taking lessons when i was taking my evaluation exam (To Love You More) and some others. I didn't feel like going for it, because I had work. this was gonna be coach myk's first and last recital nga pala. he's resigning on january.
Personally, I'm not fond of Coach Myk's style of teaching. He was quite lenient with tones, he was more on performance. I got away with a a number "BAD" mistakes which otherwise would be noticed if it had been Coach Dynes, Coach Yen or Coach Louie (lalo na si Coach Dynes, ipapaulit nya talaga yun, hanggang maayos mo magawa, or mapaos ka na sa kakaulit! perfectionist sya in a way. hihihi!!!). Even on the performance level, he expected less than what others coaches would, at least those who I have encountered (konti lang sila). I was not satisfied. Since singing for me is more tonal than performing (but its supposed to be equal).i'm expecting more from a coach. maybe we can blame it on the fact that he's new. but then, i had the choice anyway. i'll let this one pass for now.
after going to Center, I went to SM and bought a few things. adaptor for my modem (the original one was missing) and prepaid internet card. back at home, the adaptor didn't work (damn, mahal pa naman). i found the missing one though, and surfed that night too. Was trying to download a 320KBps Mp3 of fighter by CHristina Aguilera as I was considering to use it for my fast song in Center.
last sunday, we had a morning practice for the wedding dance number. syempre, no lessons that morning for me. akala nila i wouldn't be there coz I said may lakad ako ng morning the following day. mama prepared well for lunch, ninang oda, rachel and yousuf arrived na kasi. this was the first time we'll be seeing them after a number of years. altin and herbs arrived ahead, kakaligo ko nga lang nung dumating sila. the others arrived around 11. we practiced for a bit before having lunch. i saw rachel.. omg! she's taller than i am na.. na-insecure na naman ako.. hahaha. lanie looked way shorter beside her (both of them are wearing heels) now. to think the girl is just beginning college, there's still way more room for vertical improvement, given her genes.. sexy pa. mama thought she was too thin, but for me its just right. ewan, her shirt is kinda loose so I still have difficulty analyzing how thin she really is.
rachel is the REAL star dancer of the clan. she adjusted well in the lessons. by the end of the day she had mastered it already, and was performing even better than we did (hehehe, kakahiya). Lanie and her have been talking of doing a dance number (tatlo daw kami.. ngii! beyonce daw ata). si altin ata ang magtuturo.. pero di pa sure. oh, before, I was on the rightmost side at the back. now, i'm on (dyarann..) next to the center, pero second row (we alternate kasi). derinne's on the first row, center. i'm on the 2nd row, to derinne's right. rachel's on derinne's left. yakk.. talk about being up for the spotlight.. man.. i hope i don't screw up. mahirap pa naman sa gitna. :)
after lunch and a few more rounds, almost all of them left. ninang lovely and ninang oda stayed behind to practice some more. ako naman, i was supposed to go to Center that afternoon, kaya lang tinamad na ko. I just took time to encode a few more MP3s to max bitrate using CDEX that evening, after my afternoon nap.
what's wrong with me? that night, the telecast of Lea Salonga's Christmas Concert was aired through ABS-CBN. i watched that live, yet i still watched the telecast, even if it started (and ended) late. it was nice to recall the songs sung. not all of them were there though. the guests' numbers weren't aired, as well as "Ikaw". I can't recall, but most probably, some of her songs weren't included in the telecast as well, but i can only remember "Ikaw".
last monday, after work, we practiced the dance steps for our number in the RevSys party later. Did a number of adjustments to the steps. Kudos to Carlo, without him and his initiative, lagot na ang RevSys newbies. Siguro yun na rin ang gagawin namin sa IT Christmas Party though mababawasan kami since some are just RevSys newbies, not really IT newbies. Sa TechSys naman, Mabs and I might provide moral support.
We were supposed to have the SDLC cascade this afternoon, but it was adjusted to yesterday afternoon, 4 to 5:30. problem. i was supposed to go to Center to attend sessions (mas ok talaga pag si Coach Dynes, though admittedly, nahihirapan ako. pero i really like the way she teaches. since usually evening ko nagiging coach si coach Dynes, i'm going after the evening sessions), and give the CD for voice cancelling. I sprinted out of office the moment the cascade ended and despite the uber traffic on the way to the MRT (it took more than half an hour), I reached Center around 10 to 15 minutes late.
ANDAMING TAO. sobra. they were watching something on TV pa. i had difficulty braving my way through the people to get to the front line. pagdating ko don, syet! wala akong classcard? lost? baka daw na kay coach myk. he was gonna teach PH level. when i got there, caroline was there. she was going for the recital. anyway, it was rescheduled to the 29th na, practicum on sunday. malabo pa rin ako for both. 19, may practice kami sa hotel for the dance, tapos 29, may work. since leave na ako ng 30-31 and 27, parang nakakahiya na mag-leave pa ulit..
ayun, disappointed ako. i had expected coach dynes to handle us that day kaya lang may hawak ata sya na magko-concert or something. basta yun. i sang my new slow song, "reflection" by christina aguilera. may mga mishaps along the way.. minsan nafa-flat, nasha-sharp or desaf. seeing others not performing as much, i didn't do as much as well. may comedy part pa, i was busy emoting, tapos i made a mistake.. thinking he caught my mistake and will make me stop, i opened my eyes a bit (they was closed) and looked at him, expecting a stop. and he reacted comically. he didn't catch my mistake. basta i got away with a number of tone-booboos i couldn't have gotten away with had it been coach yen or coach dynes handling me. can't comment with coach louie yet, dahil 2nd day ko lang naman sya naging coach. though tingin ko, he's not lenient with these thing as well.
the good thing about coach myk is the way he projects. magaling sumayaw. ok sya na instructor for stage pop dancing. kaya lang, yun nga, i'd prefer other coaches when it comes to really perfecting the delivery of songs, lalo na at slow. saka he's generous with praise. told him na i won't be attending his recital na talaga. sa january daw it might be coach sheng directing. i don't know her as of now, pero sana mabait din.
anyway, madami kami kahapon. caroline, the thin girl who sang "heaven" (the one who thought i was still studying, nung kasama ko si vicky), the girl who was being coached when i was taking an exam, and two more i'm not familiar with. one is a kid (sobrang airy ang boses, parang forever falsetto, mahina talaga kahit nakatutok na yung microphone), the other is a college student, i think, from UST (she had a really nice vibrato). for short, ANG DAMI. far cry from my last session, na mag-isa lang ako.
anyway, yun. we talked about spiels and spiels development. on the other room, someone was practicing for a concert ata. they were singing "fighter" by christina aguilera, which was supposed to be my fast song. got scared hearing them, now thinking of mission "delta fast song". anyway, round 2 came with just one stop (almost perfect na daw).
sobrang late na kami natapos. after my round 2, i went out and handed my CD over to the frontline (Ms. Adette) for voice cancel. She invited me to the Christmas Party na din. I wanted to attend.. its on the 21st (tuesday next week). Malamang pupunta ko.
Ayun, we ended at 9 na halos. Not quite satisfied, but not dissatisfied with my session yesterday.. sana iba naman mag-handle next time.
