long time no blog

hmm.. its been quite some time since I last blogged.. Nawawalan kasi ako ng gana.. aside from being busy with work stuff recently. Mainly talking about my voice lessons, my last last meeting (October 10), was, well.. not so OK.

That date, we were supposed to have lunch at Greenhills for Tita's birthday. So syempre dapat umuwi ako nang maaga, right after the lessons. Guss what? when I arrived at CPMP, josko! it was buzzing with people, a far cry from what you would expect during Sunday mornings. They had a concert that day, and the participants were there getting made up. I got there around 8:35 na.. pero ala pa yung magkakapatid na kasabay ko. We weren't attended to promptly, busy din kasi lahat ng tao.. as in madami kasing dumating. Later dumating na yung magkakapatid, pinapunta na kami sa MPH. But it was past 9 nung na-accommodate kami ng coach. Coach Louie first entered to turn the aircon on.. akala ko pa naman sya na yung coach. Pero okay din si Coach Dynes.. at least kilala ko na sya and vice versa. By the way, 6 kami that time, we had two more girls joining us for that morning's lesson. so kantahan na.. i was fourth ata.. still having difficulty with the high notes.. after 4 sessions, yun pa rin.. man, i was getting REALLY pissed off. because we started late, we ended late din.. halos 11:30 na kami natapos. i wasn't happy. i wanted to get my voice out. feeling ko wala akong improvement since the first meeting.. damn those high notes. i was already starting to think I couldn't do it, and the freak that i was, i was forcing myself to do it. when i was on my way home, it turned out i didn't have enough moolah to reach home. not counting on a jeepney to give me change for 500 pesos at 11:30am, i stopped by a convenience store to buy raisins, which turned out to be yucky. They gave me the change i needed, though.

Lunch was ok, i ate a lot. i even changed my clothes when i got home, i wore the cute white top i wore at Bea's birthday the day before. They complimented it, i was starting to think na bagay nga sa akin yun, hehehe. i was supposed to go with them to greenhills, pero tinamad ako, inaantok dahil busog, at wala nang pera. i went home at natulog.. parang nung gabi ata mama asked me to type something for her.. teachers' exam ata.

the entire work week was busy. i had to attend to the credit card app requirements, basta madami.. benchmarking and testing, migration. Not much of development work being done right now.. pero madami pa din. assessment, recommendations for the next project.

come saturday, super busy pa rin as usual. mama bought an aircon friday night, to be installed on sunday. kuya eric came on saturday to fix the door locks, and the dog house (yahoo! no more pups pooping!). sunday, i decided not to go to my lessons, as i was a bit hoarse, and i barely had enough sleep. turns out, bad decision. i got to spend the whole day talking to hen-blabber.. basta nakakaasar.. parang wala nang ginawang matino. the aircon man came, naayos ang aircon ni mommy, pati yung akin na ayaw lumamig dahil sobrang dumi.. tapos linis na naman.. habang napapagalitan na naman.. by the end of the day, my romm was clean, i had cleaned up the shoes area, the desk area, the computer table area, and the used to be tambakan, now my shoe area.

oh btw, regular na ako.. at least that was what i had gleaned from my discussion with my boss. i had received the good news after ko mag-caravan. there's still room for improvement though. at least masaya na ako..

monday afternoon, i was planning to go to my lessons, but because of a pre-announced meeting which didn't push through, i was stuck at the office until past 5:30 pm. TUrned out to be a good thing though, i had forgotten that CPMP was closed during Mondays. i was able to make sense of the XML package i was doing.

Tuesday, i was determined to go home early to make it to my lessons, though i honestly thought i'd be wasting it as well, dahil hindi ko pa rin kaya. during the day, we received confirmation about our corporate choir (which i joined) being officially established with a vocal coach to boot! guess who.. the vocal coach of the Philippine Madrigal Singers! we were having our general assembly tomorrow night with the coach for vocal classification.. pano kaya pag napunta ako sa alto..? my only worry is that the coach might be used with classical approach of singing, and having done that before.. i'm in no hurry to experience that trauma again. but then again, its nice to learn something new from a vertified professional.. not to mention at no cost.. hehehe.

come 4:30, i was raring to go home.. i was still thinking kung tutuloy ako sa lessons, but i rode the MRT anyway. i reached cubao around 5:30.. walked around araneta center a bit. i saw this CD with the san miguel philharmonic orchestra playing ikaw, conducted by ryan cayabyab. i bought it, happy that my minus one problem was over, and hoping that the arrangement was more like lea salonga's rendition.

i decided to walk my way towards CPMP. i thought it would take long, but i reached CPMP around 6pm. I still waited, as lessons were to start 30 minutes later. while waiting, a pretty girl came, a peek on her class card told me she's 15. akala ko ka-age ko na more or less. i saw coach louie, coach dynes (but she didn't see me right away) and coach jayvee.. and others na hindi ko pa kilala. They were preparing for another event.

by 6:30, coach dynes approached us. she was gonna be our coach for that session. it was just the 15 year old and me. she even kidded me i was in formal attire (i came from the office of course). i think she didn't handle my sunday class, as she didn't notice i was absent. i just hope it wasn't coach louie as well.. sayang..

anyway, the girl got to sing first. while she was singing, two others arrived, maybe about my age (finally!). i went next. a miracle happened.. i was able to reach the high part.. i didn't apply any technique on high tones.. it just came out. i applied effort of course.. pero it was natural voice, not artificial.. i was made to repeat some parts of it, some tad more effort than necessary, some parts needing more power. she congratulated me pa after the song. ang saya ko grabeh.

then the other two girls sang. one had a good voice, she nearly mastered her song, though she has yet to memorize her song. the other one had a good song and a good voice as well. kaya lang parang masyado syang trendy kumanta, and at times, she gives too much effort that it doesn't sound right. too stylized at some parts.. but she has potential din.

we had a lesson about chest tones, i was able to do it in our sample song, and in the first part of my song. kaya lang, during the second try, i wasn't able to reach the high notes once more. i sang until i became hoarse, i know coach dynes sensed it. i didn't reach it, but i wasn't as sad as i was during the previous meeting. i knew i could deliver it. she said its just a matter of breathing for that sound to come out. but as far as i know, i was getting as much air as i could during the second time, yet croaky sound came out.

come the end of the session, she gave the older girls pointers on how to improve. they didn't apply most of the lessons they should have mastered by now, and they were supposed to do, in time for the evaluation. she gave me good remarks naman, i could perform na daw, even if i hadn't taken basic performance lessons yet. while she was writing her comments in the manual, she told me she was impressed daw dahil nagawa ko na. gawd.. how happy was i..

the 15 year old had to stay.. coach dynes had to discuss the change of her song.

i got home, went to mama's room for a bit of chitchat. then i went to my room, played the CD i had bought, thinking it was the same Ikaw I was supposed to sing. wrong.. it was different. 280 pesos wasted.. but then, i was still happy.. i made it. but i still have plans of having the minus one of lea salonga's version on the actual thing..

ngayon, work mode na naman.. finally, i have finished this blog thing i have started since 8am today.. ;)
