the caravan...

why am i making a brat of a girl ruin my day? some girl here.. ewan.. i'm supposed to be in a good mood e.

i have enjoyed the past two days that i was out of work and in a seminar and participated in the caravan.

i thought i wouldn't enjoy yesterday's caravan.. kasi i almost got late.. biglang nagkatraffic on our way to Ayala.. i got on the bus mga 7:15 na.. i sat alone sa isang 3-seater na part.. alone for most of the time until a woman sat beside me. pero she kept to the other end, with caravan stuff (and food) between. i ate my breakfast (a bland, but nevertheless filling sandwich, and dalandan juice) na rin.

the bus left around 7:45am na. midway, i wanted to sleep. to avoid it, i turned my radio on.. kaya lang nag-microphone na yung facilitator.. who looked like tita cristy. semi-green syang mag-joke, though i have to admit it helped bring everyone's mood meter up lalo na nung umaga.

our first stop was at the data center (which, due to company reasons, i will not mention where, baka may nakakabasa). they grouped us into 3 teams, A, B and C. I got into team C. the teams were supposed to compete throughout the day for the much-coveted jacket (status symbol daw). there were some discussions, too. we met our marshall, Sir Agee, when he toured us in the data center. sabi nya hindi pa daw natatalo ang team nya ever.. (think, we're the 72nd batch) kung sakali kami pa lang ang una. the pressure was on. mukha pa naman kaming timid lahat at mahiyain (me leading).. lalo na yung mga babae.

when we came back from the tour, there was a "sing and dance" contest ng caravan song. from nothing, we managed to plan something (not clearly, nothing was planned, we were just bent on following somebody who was to act as our choir master). as in wacky talaga, we looked really stupid, though we were all having fun naman. they were filming us (all teams) during the first part of the number, but during the latter part, they were just taping Team C (nakakahiya!). we won pa, we won half of the awarded points, either team got half of the remaining. we left the place and went somewhere to have lunch, a quarter chicken each. doon may Q&A din.. nag tie ang scores namin ng A and C.

after meals, we went to greenhills for the selling activity naman. at first, we thought di na tutuloy kasi nag-brownout sa greenhills, pero nagkailaw din. i took on the task of selling e-load, thinking it was easier, since tingi-tingi lang. was i so wrong in my entire life.. we needed to go out of the stall to sell, if we intended to complete the freakin quota. ang kapal ko.. lumalapit na ako sa di ko kakilala para lang alukin sila ng e-load which we decided to have on promo, basta discounted. so yon, we went back to the stall, to remit money with 2 less than the quota. then Sir Agee asked us to stop selling na. pero may teammate pa kaming bumili na rin nung last two (dapat nga ako din e). so far, we also helped the sim swap people kasi we brought them customers din. we completed all our quotas for e-load, sim swap, sim sale, posters, flyers. we also sold two phonekits pa. comedy lang, nahuli yung team lead namin ng pulis. we were confident we did well until we heard that team A sold 3. takot kami, pero we counted on them not being able to finish all their sales quotas.

back on the bus, the points weren't counted yet. from greenhills, we spent a (long..) bus ride going to the Smart Wireless Center in Quezon Avenue. nakakaantok yung papunta dun.. by the time my eyes finally conceded into closing, nasa Quezon Avenue na kami. we went to the iCon training room for PM snacks and some discussion. by the time we got there, the scores weren't tallied yet. some slide presentations, some listen-in activity on WC personnels' customer encounters. we toured the iCon work areas as well. upon going back to the training room, we learned of the last activity to rack in points, the wireless center activity.

we were supposed to divide our team into 2 groups, CCOs and subs. CCOs should be able to answer subs' queries using a tool. the first team to finish 9 questions would be awarded 45 pts, the next, 25, and the last one, 15. Sir Agee told us we were leading by 20 points, but with the number of points up for grabs, its still anyone's ballgame. after slowing a bit, nauna kasi yung isang team at one time by 1 or 2 questions, we progressed and finished first. that was the easy round.

for the difficult round, we had to choose one sub and another CCO who was to answer without any aid. An actual WC officer would validate the answer. by that time, i was sure we had a substantial lead. but we wanted to win (badly!!). since i got to be a CCO twice during the easy round, they chose me for the difficult round. i almost hesitated, pero sayang, i really believed i could do it. so go ako. the question our duo had was easy, then they changed the places of the subs. from a relatively easier one, i got a hard one. one where i was not sure of the answer. pero ok pa rin, and we finished first. we were sure of our victory when we headed out of the iCon to Max's for dinner. after dinner, the points were announced. we won with 245 points, 60 points ahead of the 2nd place team.

we had team pictures taken, with our marshall of course. he admitted he had marshalled a losing team before, but heck, i know we did well and we deserved our victory. i didn't go with the bus after dinner, i took my own route home. i was happy, i had enjoyed myself, met new people, and exceeded my expectations of myself during the day. and that, aside from the green jacket i have now, is worth more then the 300 i forgot to collect after the eload selling activity..

=)
